Primary Academy

Curriculum Intent:

Nurture: Throughout the teaching of computing there is an overarching theme of online safety. Pupils will learn both the positives and negatives of working online. Children will have the opportunity to become independent lifelong learners so that they are able to use the skills taught to support them in becoming successful in a digital world.

Curiosity (and play): Our learners will engage in using a variety of technology whilst formulating and solving problems by breaking them down into more manageable steps. They will explore, question and build on their prior knowledge and apply this to other curriculum subjects. Children will learn to become active participants in the classroom by being both resilient and inquisitive, which will prepare them for life in a digital world.

Diversity: Children will be taught to show respect for themselves and others when communicating digitally. All children will be offered equal opportunities when accessing technology in our school. The children in our school will also have recognition of the cultural differences regarding computing.

Ambition: Our learners will develop an ambitious thirst for learning by extending upon what they already know and applying this to other subjects. They will feel empowered to think outside the box and work logically when solving problems. The children will continue to use and apply their learnt skills across the different units of work, which equips them with the necessary skills to exist in an ever-evolving digital world.
